Blog 19: Senior Project and ESLRs
1. What ESLR have you excelled in most in your senior project?
Probably the most effective learner. I have been slowly learning about all aspects of the museum world and have grown an appreciation for the art. During my mentorship I have been switched around a lot with jobs so I have been able to experience all elements.
2. Please explain why you think you have
excelled in this ESLR.
I believe that I have excelled in this ESLR because I have been able to gain a whole new set of skills with this experience, and that is thewhole point of learning.
3. Provide evidence from your senior project to support your claim.

The other day I was taught how to glaze plates for the kiln.
I have learned about the placement and displaying issues with art pieces.

Blog 18: Two Hour Meeting Answer #3
1. What is most important in curating an art show?
2. My third answer is: "Knowing the demographics that you are advertising to."
3. a) You have to be sure not to offend anyone.
b) Different cultures are attracted to different things.
c) There could be an overabundance of one type of ethnicity and it could help you expand your range towards a wider audience knowing that.
4. Strom, Stephanie. "To Attract a Crowd, Scour Your Deographics." Nytimes.com. New York Times, 14 Mar. 2010. Web. 10 Jan. 2013.
5. I plan to study more on location choosing for the best audience flow.

Blog 16: Two Hour Meeting Answer #2
1.) What is most important in curating an art show?
2.) My second answer for my essential question is knowing which demographic you are advertising to.
3.) Three details or facts:
- an art museum relies upon the visitors participation,
- you need to know your demographic in order to put on exhibits that cater to them,
- gives you insight to the location you are in too.
4.) This source.
<Bob, Duggan. "Big Think." Does the Art World Have a Demographics Problem? Big Think, 20 Nov. 2012. Web. 05 Jan. 2013.>
5.) I plan to continue my study of answer 2 by doing extensive research on the statistics of demographics within the art world, and how you can play more toward your demographic for a happier result.

Blog 10: Senior Project Update
(1) What are you currently doing in your independent component?
I am currently continuing to do my volunteer work at the American Museum of Ceramic Arts. I have learned a lot of new information about how to start a show. I am starting to realize how much work I have gotten myself into...
(2) What is a recent piece of research (article, interview, or audio-visual) that have you reviewed you would say was significant in helping you understand where to go next in your senior project? The piece of research should be something you reviewed in November. Please explain what you learned and where are you going next because of this piece of research.
One of the pieces that I really found a deep interest with was the article called "Psychological Effects of Art on Humans". I thought that the way it explained the human mind was extremely useful in an advertisers' point of view. Not only are you targeting your audience on a very physical level through demographics research etc, but you are also more able to change their emotions from the pieces that are shown in the exhibit. It stresses a more important role on choosing the pieces wisely in order to have emotional themes throughout the entire exhibit. This will help me with choosing the pieces that I choose to exhibit, because I now have a better understanding as to what will effect which part of the brain.

{This is the photography studio that I usually work in with the girl on the right, Jill. She's the photography intern, and I help her. The man on the left is Roady, he is the arts director of AMOCA. He's placing one of the headlining pieces for the last exhibit down for us to photograph for advertisements and the catalogue books. }

Blog 9: Working EQ and Possible Answers
1: The working EQ I used during my presentation was: What are the steps you must follow in order
to curate a successful art show?
2: I am not going to revise my EQ at this time.
3: Possible answers could include: having a prominent theme, finding a location, advertising the show, preparation, and then opening night. (these would obviously be very vague so that I could go into the in depth process during the presentation to fill up content.)

Blog 2: Curating an Art Show
a.
My topic is how to curate an art show. I chose this because I work in an art museum, and hope to one day curate my own show, so I figured why not start now?
b.
- iPoly Citizen: I plan to make my art show based on a certain issue as an underlying theme. (bullying, emotional distress, etc..) This relates to the me improving as an iPoly citizen because I would be able to draw more attention to an issue that is widely known and educate people through artistic value.
- Effective Communicator: I plan to network and make connections with more art directors and people in my field of interest. This will make me more effective as a learner because I will know the people in the industry and be able to possibly get hired with more ease.
- Effective Learner: I plan to do more research on certain exhibitions of artists and art history. This will make me more effective as a learner because I will not only expand my knowledge of a necessary field, but it will
- Effective User of Technology: I plan to learn how to use the necessary computer programs that I need in order to create great pamphlets and advertising memorabilia for my art show. This will make me more effective as a user of technology because I will be able to know more programs which will help me in the long term for my required skill sets.
